Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry is one of the first few departments of SVR NSS College that came into existence in June 1980. The department started to function with a two-year pre-degree course. The degree course in Chemistry was started in the year, with Chemistry as the main and Physics and Mathematics as the subsidiary subjects. The sanctioned strength is 32. The department has very well qualified and dedicated faculty members. All the permanent faculty members are PhD holders. The department has a well-equipped laboratory.

To make the study of Chemistry stimulating, relevant and interesting the students are equipped with the potential to contribute to academic and industrial environments. Besides intimating the students with the basic facts and concepts in Chemistry, the programme encourages the students to develop the ability to apply the principles in actual situations. We are aimed at training new generations of scientists who will take leadership positions in research and teaching.

The department has always ensured that the students entrusted to our care are inculcated with high moral values and ethics. The main emphasis of the Department is on creation and application of knowledge and remains committed to the overall development of students by integrating teaching, co-curricular activities. The department is also fortunate to receive the support and cooperation from our alumni and PTA.
